‘When the voices start to speak, roles are established’

When the voices start to speak, roles are established

Narrative audio triptych in Kasteel Wissekerke, Basel 5’08’’ loop, 6’25’’ loop, 4’34’’ loop
2016

Three stories exploring the history of Livina van Steelant, who lived in the castle around 1516. Installed in the chapel, dining room and bedroom of the women (married couples had seperate bedrooms in that time). The stories linger between daily life in the castle, the position of women in 1516 and marriage strategies.

The words are spoken by the first female Flemish voice used by TomTom, a very familiar voice in 2016.
